For descendants of European emigrants, those rights may be closer than they think.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Freedom of movement, without paperwork<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The most visible benefit is the right to live and work in any of the 27 EU countries without a visa, work permit or sponsorship. A software developer can accept a job in Berlin, a nurse can move to Amsterdam, and a retiree can settle on the Spanish coast \u2014 all without immigration procedures. In uncertain times, many families simply value having a plan B: a legal foothold on another continent that does not depend on visas, lotteries or investment schemes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Travel itself becomes simpler as well. An EU passport ranks among the strongest in the world, offering visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to most countries. Border queues shrink, airport transfers get easier, and spontaneous trips across Europe require nothing more than an identity card. For frequent travellers, the day-to-day convenience alone justifies the effort of confirming an inherited status.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Descent as the overlooked route<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Unlike residency-by-investment programmes, citizenship by descent does not require moving abroad or spending large sums.
